Pardee Homes Wins a Gold Nugget Grand
LivingSmart® Community Takes A Top Honor
Los Angeles, June 24, 2009 --Pardee Homes’ honors in the 2009 Gold Nugget Awards include a Grand Award for the California Green Builder® category and a Merit Award for Sustainable Residential Neighborhood, Detached. Both accolades were bestowed on Manzanita Trail, which contributes to the environmentally friendly planning and land use that define Pacific Highlands Ranch. Created by Pardee Homes, the 1300-acre master-planned community is in north San Diego County.
Pardee Homes’ LivingSmart® program highlights Manzanita Trail, with EarthSmart™, EnergySmart™, HealthSmart™ and WaterSmart™ standards that help conserve energy, improve indoor air quality, save water and reduce consumption of natural resources. “This project, featuring higher than usual density and nice home design, is a great example of how a builder can take the California Green Building program standards and find innovative ways to meet and exceed them,” said the Gold Nugget judges.
“We introduced LivingSmart in 2001 at Pacific Highlands Ranch,” said Joyce Mason, vice president of marketing for Pardee Homes. “Today, this is company-wide standard for our upcoming communities and for most that currently have new homes under construction.”
Pardee Homes was also honored for architectural excellence with two Awards of Merit for its luxury series of Bella Fiore in Lake Las Vegas. Bella Fiore Plans Five and Six were noted for outstanding detached home designs of less than 2500 square feet and of 2500 to 3500 square feet.
